Following completion of my Leaving Cert I started to research the alternative options out there. That is when I came across the vast range of courses and opportunities at Rathmines College of Further Education.

Starting my college life in the Certificate in Journalism and Public Relations course I was apprehensive and nervous but soon felt at home in the intimate surroundings of Rathmines. Tutors went that extra mile to help every student reach their potential. Small classes and individual attention meant I progressed well and decided to make the transition to a Higher National Diploma course. This qualification is recognised across the UK and Ireland so it meant that travelling was also an option.

The decision to move on to the next level was an easy one to make, I felt confident in the college and the amazing staff, enough to know that I could do well in the post graduate course – Diploma in Public Relations. The Diploma in Public Relations course accredited by the Public Relations Institute of Ireland was a big step and challenge. Again I was greeted with enthusiasm by the tutors who went out
of their way to make sure I achieved everything I had hoped to achieve.

Completing the Diploma in Public Relations course was fantastic and the worries I had after my Leaving Cert, not getting exactly what I wanted are now a distant memory.

It is important to remember that not gaining the points you want, need not the end of the world. Not going to Trinity, UCD or DIT doesn’t mean you can’t do well in life. The options out there are huge and the expertise in Rathmines means you can get there! Looking back on my years at Rathmines I cannot think of any negative comments. Individual talents are nurtured, personalities encouraged, student opinions matter and everyone is so approachable and helpful.

It is a great place to grow and learn and you are as important there as the next person. You are counted and not just a number in a lecture hall. I now work at O'Leary Public Relations and Marketing
as a Senior Account Manager, a full service agency founded in 1994 specialising in FMCG’s. As busy and as time intensive as
it is I really enjoy all the elements of my job.

I really enjoyed my time in Rathmines College. The diverse range of subjects that were taught has been a real help to me and
I also made some very important friendships while on the PR course. The tutors passion for this course inspired me to work hard and come away with one of my greatest achievements to date - Student of the Year! I thoroughly recommend this course to anyone interested in a career in the media whether Journalism or Public Relations

As a mature student I cannot recommend Rathmines College highly enough. I had worked for a couple of years and then decided to pursue a course in the Accounting field. I found the teachers very helpful and supportive. This gave me the confidence to achieve my ambition in becoming accredited by IATI (Institute of Accountancy Technicians of Ireland.) This has allowed me exam exemptions for continuing in Rathmines College towards my next goal of becoming a Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA).

I cannot recommend the Rathmines College Diploma in Public Relations highly enough. Not only did it give me a thorough grounding in PR, it also gave me the confidence to secure a position in a PR consultancy soon after graduating. I have now opened my own agency 'Merrion Business Development'. We specialise in working with clients to bring their unique stories to a wider audience through various PR and marketing initiatives. I now take work experience students from the Diploma in Public Relations course because I know the quality of the training.

I really enjoyed my time at Rathmines College where I studied a Medical Reception/ Administration Course. The course offers a wide range of subjects from Computer Skills to Medical Terminology, which are very practical in the workplace.I did my work experience in St. Vincent's Private Hospital, which was arranged by my tutor. Upon completion I was offered a full-time position in the Radiology Department in St. Vincent's Private where I still work. I use my Medical Terminology, Dictaphone and Computer Skills everyday. I found the course to be a very good stepping-stone into full-time employment in the Medical Administration sector. I would recommend it to anyone else wishing to do the same.

Rathmines College have played a huge part in my life and current work career.

I applied for the Advanced Certificate in Office Administration - Legal, and with my previous experience in completing an ECDL course and typing course, I had been accepted straight to the second year of legal studies.

As part of the course I spent three days in college, and two days on a work placement in a solicitor's office. I found it very challenging. However, it gave me an idea of the shape of my future potential career. It was fascinating and in my opinion it was the best way of learning!

Furthermore, in college I gained a wide range of computer skills which are so essential in the office environment, as well as basic legal knowledge I needed in order to get a position within in a legal firm.
I received full-time attention and excellent one-to-one tutoring that helped me to achieve the goals which were set out for me.

In the end I got my dream job in one of the top legal firms in Dublin.

I will always think of Rathmines College as home and the place which launched my career. I have made many friends there and I would strongly recommend this course to everyone who is hoping for a better future for themselves.

I didn't realise when enrolling for the Medical Reception/ Administration Course how valuable it would be. I did my work experience in Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin in the cardiac department, which had been arranged by my tutor. After I finished college I was offered a full-time job. I use my medical terminology and computer skills everyday. I would recommend this course to anyone.

As a mature student with young children going to College was a difficult undertaking. However, once I started in Rathmines I was quickly put at ease by the small classes and the friendly staff.

The tutors are very helpful and kind inspiring me to work hard and by doing so I have exceeded my own goals by receiving 1st place in Ireland in the T2 exam on the CAT course.

I now have the option of pursuing employment as a certified accountant or continuing in Rathmines to obtain a degree in applied accounting through partnership with Oxford Brooks University.

As an international student from Estonia, I find all of the tutors to be very professional and exceptionally kind and helpful. Courses offer excellent practical skills for an immediate career or for those who wish to advance onto further studies. I am delighted I made Rathmines College my number one choice!

I found the Rathmines Legal Administration course highly beneficial in my efforts to become a legal executive and am currently employed in that area. The level of computer skills have helped me enormously and I gained an exemption from the 1st year of the legal executive programme in Griffith College.

For a first step in a structured progression to become a solicitor you could not pick a safer stepping stone.

Rathmines College provided me with a perfect stepping stone to boost both my points and my confidence in order to start a degree course. I am certain without the helpful staff and useful course Rathmines College provided I would not be where I am today!

I was on the Business Studies and Computer Applications - Finance Course in Rathmines College during the academic year 2003/2004. This was an excellent course from which I was able to link up with the Business degree which I am now pursuing at DIT.
I found the course to be very helpful as it gave me a good grounding in a broad range of Business subjects and also very importantly in I.T.

Rathmines College provided me with a supportive and enriching educational environment. I acquired the necessary academic foundation and confidence to persue a Degree course in Information Technology. The Certificate in Computer Programming provides a very sound basis for my current
course of study.

In Rathmines, I studied the FETAC Certificate in Marketing and then went on to complete the BTEC Higher National Diploma in Business & Marketing. I can honestly say that Rathmines has played a huge part in preparing me for my progression into year 3 of the Bachelor of Business Studies Degree in Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design & Technology, from which I graduated with an honours degree (level 8).

Although there are many centres offering accounting courses Rathmines is a very special college. Small class sizes and college policy ensure personal attention for every student. Staff members are always ready to help - I know the college made the difference for me.

I studied at Rathmines College for three years.

I received my Certificate in Print Journalism and Public Relations in 2005 and because I was so happy at the college I decided to return to complete my Higher National Diploma in Journalism in 2007.

I always found every one of my lecturers very approachable and extremely helpful with any difficulties I was having.
The practical skills I learned during my time in Rathmines have been priceless to me, particularly working with the technology in the studio as they help me in my job on a daily basis.

Since January, I've been working in the newsroom of Northern Sound radio which covers counties Cavan and Monaghan.
I would highly recommend Rathmines as a college not only for the knowledge and the skills I have gained from it but I have made some lifelong friends and we have had many laughs along the way.
