
Admission to Rathmines College is governed by the CDVEC and College Admissions Policy which is available on the college website. In circumstances where an applicant is refused admission the student has a right to appeal to the Board of Management and the college is fully compliant with CDVEC procedures in this regard. Details of the appeals process are available from the college Principal. The following administrative requirements apply to all applicants:
While waiting lists are in place for many of our courses all applications received will be kept on file. From 1st September applicants will be contacted to fill any courses with places remaining.
Applicants should note that early application is advised to ensure course choice.
Limited number of VTOS places available – early application advised.
Application
Submission of a completed and signed application form by the applicant
Online applicants must present a printout of their application acknowledgement
Submission of a signed passport sized photograph.
Submission of an official statement of appropriate examination results
Evidence of meeting entry requirements of a particular course or those of a professional body.
Interviews
All applicants are invited to interview by a member of the course staff.
Interviews take place from February to June and from mid– August.
Those whose first language is not English will be tested before any offer can be made.
Offers – provisional or confirmed are made at interview provided all the required information is provided and Language
Test Results are available.
No course deposits are required.
Offer and Acceptance
A Course Offer is made following interview.
When examination results are pending, this is a provisional offer
It is the responsibility of the student to maintain records of course offers.
Course offers must be accepted by the deadline indicated, failure to do so may mean that there is no longer a place on the course.
Registration and Course Commencement
Students must attend on the date of Registration
Failure to register may mean that the place is no longer available
Students are expected to commence their course on the precise date of commencement and in no circumstances may a student commence after September 30th of the academic year.
Course Charges
Rathmines College is a constituent college of CDVEC. Courses are fully funded from NDP and EU sources. However, minimal course charges are incurred and these are in the order of €260 for Further Education Courses. Where Professional Bodies are involved, course fees may differ. Student Maintenance Grants
Many further education students are eligible for a means-tested grant. Contact your local VEC office for details.
VTOS and BTE
Adults over 21 years of age and unemployed for over six months are eligible to apply for a limited number of VTOS places. The Back to Education Allowance is also available to qualified applicants. Early application is advised for VTOS as places are very limited in Rathmines College. Please indicate on your application form if applying for VTOS or BTE.
Overseas Students
An increasing number of international students now attend at every level. Language competency testing is part of the application process.
Rathmines College co-operates with a number of European Partners. It is currently providing certification in Business and IT to a group of students from Nantes in France.
Protection of Learners Policy
Rathmines College is committed to providing appropriate protection for all learners on its programmes. It is committed to providing information on conditions under which a programme can begin or can be ended and will provide details in relation to a possible refund of course charges as appropriate. In the event of a class not forming or of programme cessation the college will make every effort to arrange
for any practicable student transfer within and without the scheme. |
