At Rathmines College, we believe that student life is about more than just what happens in the classroom. We support participation and performance in sport and are committed to the health and wellbeing of all our learners. Whether you are looking to compete at a high level or just want to stay active and meet new people, there are plenty of ways to get involved.

A “Huge Year” for Sport – 2025/26 Highlights

Our teams and individual athletes have consistently punched above their weight in national and inter-college competitions:

Basketball: Our Basketball team continues to dominate, recently being crowned **FE Champions for the fourth consecutive year**. This incredible run of success cements Rathmines as a powerhouse in further education basketball.

Football: The Rathmines College Football team is currently enjoying one of its most successful runs. In early 2025, the team qualified for their first-ever FAI Invitational Cup Final, with standout performances in victories over IADT and DCU. The squad continues to compete at the highest level in the Colleges and Universities Football League (CUFL).

Swimming: Individual excellence has shone in the pool, with students like Samuel Bourke-Carey bringing home four gold medals at the recent FE Swimming Gala, and Tetyana Usychenko also securing gold in the female category.

Rathmines College supports participation and performance in sport and the health and wellbeing of our students. The college provides a range of opportunities to play and compete in various sporting activities and encourages students to take part in all types of activities. We also encourage students to get involved in the running of sports and other activities and facilitate the creation of new sports teams.

Rathmines College has won awards and cups in various sporting fields such as basketball, badminton, swimming and ladies GAA. Rathmines College has a very successful football team that competes in the Colleges and Universities Football League. Our team has won the Belgrove Cup a record five times in a row and the Colleges and Universities football league division four times.
A bursary fund is available which supports high achieving students in their cultural and sporting pursuits.

 

Rathmines College runs an exciting range of student activities each academic year. Activities including: Ragmines, International Culture Day, Charity and Fundraising events, Student Socials and College Concerts. Recent events include:

Rathmines 5k Charity Event5k Charity Event

City of Dublin FET College Rathmines is proud to host a Charity 5KM. This exciting event brings together students and staff to promote fitness, teamwork and community spirit, while raising vital funds for Enable Ireland. The run highlights the college’s commitment to sport, wellbeing and social responsibility, giving participants of all abilities the opportunity to get active for a great cause. We encourage everyone to register, take part, and support this fantastic initiative.

Oxfam Thrift Shop

The Thrift shop stands out through its partnership with Oxfam Ireland, a well-known charity committed to tackling global poverty and injustice. All proceeds of the event are donated directly to support Oxfam’s impactful initiatives . This collaboration adds a meaningful dimension to the shopping experience, giving attendees the opportunity to support a charitable cause while enjoying the excitement of discovering unique, second hand items.
