🎉 Your Next Step: We Visited DCU’s QQI FET Open Day!
We know thinking about university after your FET course can feel like a massive jump. But guess what? We recently sent a group of our students to the DCU QQI FET Open Day, and they came back buzzing with great advice and practical tips on making that transition!

🚀 All About the QQI FET Application Route
The core of the day was a super helpful session all about “Applying through the QQI FET route.” If you’re planning to use your PLC qualification to get into DCU, this is the essential info you need to know to make sure your application is on point.
🗣️ Hearing From Students Who’ve Been There
The absolute highlight was the “Student Journey from FET to DCU” panel discussion. Who better to give advice than the people who’ve actually done it?
The panel was made up of current DCU students who started their journey just like you—in a Further Education college! They gave us the real lowdown, offering invaluable advice and some brilliant practical tips for anyone thinking of DCU as their next move.
It was genuinely brilliant to hear them talk about their journeys. A huge takeaway was how much they felt the skills they learned in their PLC course really benefited them in first year at DCU. All that hard work pays off!
👓 An Inside Look at the DCU Business School
Our students were also lucky enough to get an informal tour of the Business School. They had the chance to chat directly with staff—a great way to ask those one-on-one questions!
Plus, they got to try out the cool VR Lab! A few of our students are eyeing up the Marketing, Innovation, and Technology degree course, so getting to see the facilities up close and personal really brought the course to life.

🤝 Support and Finances: DCU Has Your Back
Dr. Claire Bohan gave an excellent talk focused on student supports. It’s reassuring to know that DCU has dedicated support teams ready to help first-year students navigate the challenges of university life.
-
Transition Skills: DCU even has an online transition skills programme you can do before you start to help you feel prepared for the year ahead.
-
Money Matters: Worried about finances? The best place to start is www.studentfinance.ie. It’s your one-stop shop for finding all the grants and financial supports available to higher education students in Ireland.
