Thunderous Start! College Secures Fantastic Victory Over DCU in Season Opener

The new season is officially underway, and the College squad has kicked it off in spectacular style! In perfect sunshine this week, our team delivered a thrilling and dominant performance to secure a fantastic victory against DCU. The atmosphere was electric, the weather was ideal, and the quality of football on display was superb.

Well done to every player, coach, and support staff involved—this win is a massive morale boost and an early statement of intent for the campaign ahead.  What a start to the season! We look forward to seeing the team carry this winning momentum into the coming weeks. 🔥⚽

It was the opening game of the season for Rathmines College. Rathmines, who are currently in Division 5 of the Dublin League, faced off against DCU at the ETB Sports Ground on Templeogue Road. The game kicked off at 2 o’clock.

The formation they played was 4-4-2. Rathmines played a great attacking game from the get-go. The opening goal was scored by Rathmines after a great piece of attacking football, with the goal coming from Rathmines player number 7, Oscar Doyle.

Rathmines continued their attacking form of football in the first half, with DCU playing a more defensive style. The second goal of the game, also in the first half, was again scored by number 7, Oscar Doyle, following another great attacking move. DCU got one back after scoring from a corner. But before half-time, Rathmines scored a third goal, a great start finish to the 1st half.

In the second half, Rathmines continued their great form of play, scoring four more goals. DCU’s heart was still in the game, as they managed to get two back in the second half. The final score was Rathmines 7, DCU 3.

Rathmines football coach, Aidan Roche, described his team’s result today as a great start to the season, calling it a promising result. He noted the team provided a great form of attacking football and delivered the results. He is looking forward to seeing how his team plays for the rest of the campaign.
