Legal Studies with Criminology

The Legal Studies and Criminology course will be of interest to those who would like to focus on the study of criminal law and criminology and progress to study criminology at degree level in university.

Criminology includes the study of causes of crime, deviance, combatting crime, the prison service, An Garda Siochana, the Probation Service and theories of criminology.

The course also covers the study of business law and legal practice. The course also allows students to progress to the traditional law degree routes at university as well.

  • Applicants should have Leaving Certificate standard of equivalent
  • Mature Applicants welcome.
  • All applicants whose first language is not English will be tested at entry.

Work Experience

Students are encouraged to find work placements in a law firm. Their performance in real life legal practice will be monitored and assessed for 2 weeks.
